What I Want For Christmas

For some time I have been asking SANTA for some things for the one thing that I drive a lot.  I want some truck accessories.  I used to have my truck all decked out with things like Sirius Satellite Radio, DirecTV, a 9″ lcd monitor, and more.  Very little things are left from my “Fully Loaded” days.  I think I still have my GPS, and my 600 watt power inverter left.

These things were initially put in when I was driving the truck @8 hours a day, and also they came in useful when we drove to Florida.

I have wanted things like a toneau cover, or even a new stereo for the truck.  We never really came to terms on what I wanted, but now I am sure that I want to get my truck back to the way I want it being that I drive it considerable.

What gadgets do you have in your vehicle, and do you love to have TOYS?

Wanting And Getting

Many years ago my parents gave me a Ford F150 truck for a wedding gift.  It was unique, and something that I had always wanted.  The truck was made when trucks were made with real parts.  It had big tires, and it was lifted to maximum legal capabilities at that point in time.

99 DONE 1

I had to get rid of the truck because it was getting to be a money pit, and I couldn’t afford it anymore.  Well, we now have a camper.  A few months ago I told my wife that I wouldn’t mind getting a bigger camper so that we could camp more comfortable than we currently do.  Well, she handed me a matchbox camper, and said that that would be the closest I came to getting a bigger camper for now.

Her handing me a matchbox was like handing a Ferrari enthusiast a few Ferrari parts, and telling them that they couldn’t have the car, just that.  I am not trying to get something to just have it.  I honestly do want a bit bigger of a camper.  I also do realize that the economy isn’t getting much better, and I want to be sure the roof over our heads is paid for.  Then again, if I had the bigger camper, and the bank foreclosed then we could move into the camper.  Hmmm.  I think I better go, as I am not thinking straight.

Moral of the story… You can want, but what you get may not be exactly what you wanted.

UHaul Rental Experience

I rented a UHaul for moving my brother in law this past week.  Upon arrival I found out that the website doesn’t tell you about local rentals.  It seems that there are unpublished specials for local rentals of equipment.  The prices for the truck and trailer was decent.

Getting the truck at 2pm meant I had to make sure it was back by 2pm on whatever day.  I never realized how badly beat up the trucks, and trailers at UHaul would be until I went to rent one.

Based on the amount of furniture, and other things that you have you can choose from as small as 10ft all the way up to a 26ft.  There is also a small selection of trailers.

My rental experience went well.  The first truck got brought to me was a 17ft, and short of the MANY damage stickers, and a tire with a slash in it there was nothing wr0ng.  HAHA.  I sent it back, and the girl told me that at the end of the month they aren’t supposed to rent for more than 1 day.  She said she would do it anyway.  She brought me a 10ft truck with a trailer.  She was discounting it to be the same price as the first one.

I found that UHaul doesn’t fill the gas tanks back up.  They make you bring it back with the same amount of gas in it.  That would be fine, but when you are at 1/4 tank of gas it is a bit hard to know exactly how much you can put in without giving them more than they deserve back.

Anyway, the experience with UHaul was OK, and I would probably do business with them again in the future if I ever needed to.
