Disney DVC – Boardwalk

Here is some information about the Disney DVC Resort Boardwalk.

This is one of those resorts that I refered to earlier in the series as a “Hotel Type.” The rooms are stacked, and the parking lot is far from the rooms. The hotel itself is very nicely laid out. When you walk into a hotel you go through a lobby, and then down long corridors to your room. This pretty much follows through with The Boardwalk.

The pool is themed around a old style amusement park.  Children, and adults of all ages seem to like the pool very much.  There is a “Boardwalk” that has activities, and shops.  There are boat launches to talk guests to Epcot.  The Boardwalk also has buses that transport guests throughout the property.  There is also a boat rental location that you can rent mini boats, full size pontoons, and water bikes.

Holidays in Disney are mind blowing.  During the Christmas holiday at there is a magnificent display of Gingerbread scenes throughout the main lobby.  Majority of the resorts have some sort of Gingerbread display on hand.  On Easter children from the resort gather on the rear lawn, and get to gather candy, make cookies, greet the characters, and much more.

Disney DVC – Animal Kingdom Villas

Here is some information about the Disney DVC Resort Old Key West.

Animal Kingdom Villas is amongst the newest of the resorts on the DVC list. This resort is also amongst the “Hotel Type.” While the actual DVC rooms are not completed, Disney has refurbished some of the original rooms to be similar to what the DVC rooms are expected to be. Reservations for the resort are supposed to start for April occupancy.

The best feature I found with this resort is that you can walk onto your balcony, and see Live animals. (If you have a Savanah view) Waking up in the morning to watch animals from your window is by far one of the most amazing things that a person can do, in my impression.

The resort is themed around the African lifestyle. The pool is of good size, and enjoyable for children. There is a slide at this pool. Transportation by the Disney buses is great. The bus stop is a little off of the range of closeness to the resort entrance. There is a restaurant at the resort that serves up authentic foods for the theme.

Disney DVC – Old Key West

Here is some information about the Disney DVC Resort Old Key West.

While many of the Disney DVC timeshare resorts are designed in the “Hotel Type” environment, Disney Old Key West is designed in a much more spread out design.  When I say “Hotel Type” I am referring to how stacked the people are, and the basic layout of a location.  The pool was recently modified to have a themed pool.  Kids of all ages, along with adults, enjoy this pool.

Old Key West is the first DVC timeshare that was built.  This resort is also one of the more popular of the DVC resorts.  I personally prefer staying at Old Key West whenever we are capable of booking that resort.  The other resorts in Orlando are: The Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom Villas, Wilderness Lodge, Saratoga Springs and Beach Club.  The newest resort being sold now is The Bay Lake Tower.  The other resorts not in Orlando are: Vero Beach, and Hilton Head.  Another recently announced resort the proposed Hawaiian resort, that I believe is still not named.  There are other DVC resorts, but I will get into them much farther.

DVC members get a lot of perks.  Some being: Buses for each specific DVC resort.  The busing situation changes based on the season.  During high demand times you mainly have direct busing.  The “Welcome Home” greeting when you enter your resort.  I have never heard this said anywhere else on property, and I have confirmed this with other DVC’ers.  Discounts at shops, dining, and tickets.

Maid service on your room is based on the amount of nights in your stay.  WiFi internet access is available at a nominal cost.  I have been told that wired internet access in your room is now FREE as long as you are staying on points.

DVC salespeople are not the average Cut, and Run person.  They have a different strategy.  Most other timeshares pressure you to buy, and keep sending different “management” to try and haggle price.  Disney DVC does not do this.  You are given the price, and there is no haggling.  They don’t even force you to decide.  In my case, Kelly Jo, gave us the tour, gave us some literature, and let us go home to decide.  A few weeks later we said Yes, and she overnighted us the documents.  I can only say this about the other timeshare tours I have taken… “NIGHTMARE!”

I am more than willing to go over anything you may want to know if you are thinking of buying a timeshare.  i will show you where the DVC way is the better way.

I get a set amount of points per year.  I can borrow up to 1 year ahead.  I can bank my points forward to the next year.  With points I decide when I want to stay, what accomodations, and other options.  Most other timeshares give you a specific week, or weeks.  You can then trade them, or sell them to get a different week if you can’t go at that time.

Example: I have 200 points.  A weekday (Sunday night through Thursday night) could be 8 points.  I stay 5 nights, and only use 40 points.  I can now vacation again in the same year with current points.

No money is involved with these reservations, as the DVC member has already paid for the points when they signed up.
