Solaris Orlando Dining Review

We stayed in a area hotel, but after seeing the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort I wouldn’t mind staying there.  The resort seems to have something for everyone.  Located in the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort is a restaurant called Solaris.  During our media tour of Orlando we had the opportunity to dine at Solaris.  The Solaris is @20 years old.  Currently some of the Marriott resort is undergoing construction, but navigating the property isn’t hard at all.

If you are just visiting the resort for a dining experience, then you will need to park in the garage, and take the shuttle to the main building.

Our server Chong was very pleasant, and very informed on the food.

First we were served fresh onsite made organic breads. (Sunflower, Sourdough, and Raisin)  These were very tasty.

For lunch I had Thai Chili Shrimp as an appetizer, Spicy Shrimp salad, and Steak and Fries as my entree.  The food was so filling that I couldn’t fit a dessert.  The Spicy Shrimp Salad was not extremely spicy, but just right.  The Steak and Fries were superb.  The steak probably could have been cut with a butter knife.

My wife had Florida Rock Shrimp & Clam Chowder as her appetizer, a “Fit For You” Vietnamese Summer Rolls, and Rigatoni w/ Shrimp for her entree.  She also couldn’t fit a dessert due to the lack of room in the stomach.

Our little one had Chicken Nachos for a appetizer, and a Roast Turkey BLT for her entree.  She had the Warm Chocolate Chip Brownie as her dessert.  The Chicken Nachos was large enough for 2-3 people to eat as an appetizer.  Little one decided to eat half, and take the rest back with her.  The potato “chips” were excellent.

The food was served in such a manner that a new course came out as another was finished.  The food delivery was very prompt, and the food was hot each time.  The pricing for appetizers starts at $8.  Entree pricing runs from $20 to $28.  Sandwiches go from $13 to $16.  The “Fit For You Salads” are priced from $12 to $22.

I was told that on Sundays the Solaris has one of the biggest  breakfast buffets.  With each breakfast buffet sold Solaris donates $1 to the Childrens Miracle Network.

If you are in the Orlando area, then I suggest stopping by the Marriott for some very good food.  I don’t think you will regret it.  Next time we are in Orlando we plan on stopping in for the breakfast buffet, so I will let you know how that is.

Our review was not influenced by receiving a complimentary meal.  We were asked to come in and review the facility, service, food, and operations.

LEGOLAND Is Coming 2011

LEGOLAND® Florida Marketing Team TakING Shape

POLK COUNTY, FL (July 1, 2010) – The bricks are falling into place at LEGOLAND® Florida as the first three members of the marketing team begin to market the first LEGOLAND Park on the east coast. Director of Sales and Marketing Kim Isemann, Manager of Sales Todd Andrus and Public Relations Representative Jackie Wallace are bringing their expertise from Central Florida attraction destinations to promote the family theme park opening fall 2011.

Isemann brings considerable expertise in theme park and attractions marketing and will lead the estimated 20-person marketing team as Director of Sales & Marketing for LEGOLAND Florida.  Isemann joins the team of Model Citizens (LEGOLAND Park’s affectionate term for employees) from her role as General Manager of the Daytona 500 Experience Attraction at the Daytona International Speedway.   Prior to the Speedway, Isemann was with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment in escalating roles over a 12-year period, culminating in her position as the Florida Parks Director of Promotions.  Isemann is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and will soon be relocating to Polk County.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of Merlin Entertainments Group on this exciting new venture,” Isemann said.  “LEGOLAND has such a tradition of quality entertainment, and I know this will be a successful Park when we open next year.”

Joining Isemann as the Manager of Sales is Andrus, a 13-year sales veteran from SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment where he was most recently the Senior Manager of National Sales.  Andrus’ knowledge and contacts in the sales arena will prove invaluable to the first new theme park to be built in Central Florida in more than 10 years.  Andrus graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Communications.

Wallace will be heading the communications efforts for the new park as Public Relations Representative.  With more than 10 years of theme park experience, Wallace comes to LEGOLAND Florida directly from the promotions team at SeaWorld & Busch Gardens.  Previously, she was a member of the SeaWorld Orlando media relations team that opened Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark and several headlining shows.  Wallace graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations.

LEGOLAND Florida will offer more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, including thousands of spectacular LEGO® models. The Florida development will be Merlin Entertainments’ second LEGOLAND Park in North America and will play an important role in the group’s continued growth in the U.S.  Providing a full-day, year round theme park experience geared towards families with children between the ages of 2 and 12, LEGOLAND Florida will mirror the successful concept of the four existing LEGOLAND Parks in Denmark, Germany, U.K. and California.  However, as with the other four, it will also have its own unique “twist” reflecting its stunning location and adding a Florida flavor.

The MERLIN ENTERTAINMENTS GROUP is the leading name in location based, family entertainment, which has seen the most successful and dynamic growth of any company in the sector over the last five years.   Europe’s number one, and the world’s second largest visitor attraction operator, Merlin has 62 attractions and 6 hotels in 12 countries, across 3 continents.   The company aims to deliver memorable and rewarding experiences to its 38.5 million visitors worldwide, through its iconic global and local brands, and the commitment and passion of its managers and more than 14,000 employees.   Merlin Entertainments operates the following attractions – SEA LIFE – the world’s No 1 aquarium brand, Madame Tussauds, LEGOLAND, The Merlin Entertainments London Eye, Dungeons, Gardaland, LEGOLAND Discovery Centres, Alton Towers Resort, Warwick Castle, THORPE PARK, Chessington World of Adventures, Heide Park, Underwater Adventures, and Earth Explorer.
