Disney VMK

For all of you that don’t know what Disney VMK is…WAS…

Disney VMK was a virtual game that placed characters inside of a virtual Disney World.  By either buying items in the parks, or collecting cards by completing challenges at the parks, a person could earn addon furniture, magic, and things like that.  It is similar to the current online system of Webkinz.  (Just centered around Disney.)

On May 21, 2008, Disney decided to close the online game.  Their reasoning was that the game was online supposed to be for the original 25th celebration.  Many of us have come to the conclusion that this is probably a bogus reason.  Many of us tried to formulate a petition to Disney, and request the game stay alive.  These were all pointless.

In VMK you were able to collect a lot of different things.  Some were rare, while some were available everywhere.  Disney also decided at the very end of this endeavor that they would release a special set of pins that came with a VMK card.  When VMK went down I personally had @50 cards that went unused.  Myself, my daughter, my wife, and most of the rest of my family had an account, and we all played.  It was not just another kid game.

Below you will see some images of some of the cards that a person could collect, and use in-game.

These are some of the screenshots that Disney posted on their VMK site just around the time they decided they were closing the game down.

  1. If anyone can see which cards they have doubles of I would appreciate it. I am trying to make my daughter a scrapbook of each of the cards that we can acquire, along with the cards that she has. E-Mail me: JMarsden92@Comcast.Net
