Busch Gardens Tampa Receives More Babies

I don’t think I have ever seen a overweight animal.  Maybe it is possible.  Having babies is the best weight loss supplement.  Here is an alert that I got from the Busch Gardens Tampa media relations department.  My daughter read through this, and was very excited that she will get to see them in a few months.

Busch Gardens has a lot going on.  Another one of their media alerts that I got was about a new attraction.  Click HERE to read about that.

Tampa park welcomes two more baby giraffes, bringing the herd to 17

TAMPA, Fla. (July 13, 2010) – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay guests got their first look at two new baby reticulated giraffes this week as the babies were introduced to the rest of the herd on the Serengeti Plain for the first time. The first was born on April 6 and was the fourth calf for mother Tesa. The second was born April 24, and is the first calf for mother Chloe. Both are males sired by father Sterling.

For the first few months of life, Busch Gardens’ giraffe babies and their mothers are sheltered in an area out of guest view so they can be closely monitored by zoo staff to ensure the baby is nursing and growing properly. Now that they have been introduced to the park’s other giraffes, the herd numbers 17 giraffe total. It is common for other members of the giraffe family to become involved with the care of newborns.

A giraffe’s gestation period is approximately 15 months, and the new babies will nurse for about one year. These births are part of a successful long-term breeding program at Busch Gardens.

Busch Gardens’ 65-acre Serengeti Plain is a naturalistic habitat featuring a diverse population of free-roaming African animals including giraffe, zebra, white rhinoceros, eland antelope and several other species of hoof stock and birds.

You can view these amazing animals from the Serengeti Express or on a Serengeti Safari, an open-truck tour of the plain during which you can hand-feed the reticulated giraffe. (The term “reticulated” refers to the giraffe’s net-like pattern of spots.)

Disney News #5

1.  The construction at the Meadows pool in Fort Wilderness is well under way, and should actually be completing soon.  Here are a few pictures that I got from another one of my sources.

The pool was supposed to open on March 20th, but I am not there, and you can never tell when the pixie dust will actually get cleaned away so that they can open.

2.  McDonalds is apparently going to be phased out of the Disney World Resort.

3.  Spoodles will be closing, and making way for a new restaurant that will be part of a venture between Disney, and celebrity chef Cat Cora.

4.  Rumors are what keep everyone imagining.  If any of you have heard a rumor about new parks, or whatever, then the JimHillMedia site is probably the originating source.  I have never posted about this mans site, or anything on it, as it is evident that someone is getting their information from a mouse, and not an executive.  Most of what is on the site is wrong.  The site has been known to have very bad information.

5.  Characters are “rumored” to be returning to Liberty Tree Tavern.

6.  Chef Mickeys is still being worked on.
