‘Children’ Articles

A few years ago we noticed that children rarely came around to play with our daughter most of the time. This was because they all seemed to have other things to do, or couldn’t come over to play. When we had our swimming pool put in we saw a big turn around in that. Now children that hardly ever come around when the pool is closed come around now that the pool is open. We don’t mind the kids coming over to swim. We sometimes would like a parent to come over with their kids so that we aren’t the only ones watching them. We don’t like to discipline other peoples kids, and that’s another reason. When the kids come over we always sit outside on the patio chairs by the pool so that we are sure that nothing happens to anyone.
Has anyone else ever noticed this? Do you mind that this happens?

My uncle “L” has a rather large parcel of property down south. When we were last there visiting him our little one said that she wanted a horse. She is truly a animal lover, and she used to ride the ponies in Disney until she hit the size limit for the ponies. Now she wants to get into horseback riding. She hit up uncle “L” to watch it for her. We all laughed because we have tried explaining numerous times that having a horse isn’t just visiting it once, and a while. We explained that there is a very large cost to having a horse. We told her about food, vet, housing, and that is just for the horse. We then explained that in order to ride the horse she would need equestrian apparel, and a lot of her own time if she had one. She decided that it would just be too expensive for her to pay for, so she hit us up. We told her that there would be no way that we could afford a horse, and all the extras.
She has high hopes, but doesn’t fully understand the cost of living, etc. She understands small money matters, and that’s about it. Does anyone have a horse that they don’t want? How about some food, and the rest of the stuff to go with it? I wasn’t being serious, so please don’t reply.

As part of growing up my little one tries to understand things that are going on. She always asks lots of questions, and tries to help us make a difference in things. We have shown her that we don’t want to hurt her with our smoking, and that’s why we smoke outside. That was a change from smoking inside, and anywhere we needed. We went away to Disney in April for Easter, and I got a really nice tan. Well, recently my tan started peeling, and she noticed. She came to me, and asked if I had eczema. It was actually just my tan coming off. She thought that it was something that was genetic because my wife explains to her that somethings are genetic. I am waiting for her to ask about my “Disappearing Hair”.
She gets her sense of humor from her mother, and thank god that isn’t genetic because her grandma, and grandpa are a little short in that department. Kids are so priceless. No matter how you look at it they are wildcards in life. We all need to respect our children a bit more because they will most likely outlive us for the most part.
