Disney Weddings…Would You Bid To Go?

As most of you have seen on tv, Disney has some of the most beautiful weddings.  For quite some time my wife, and I have been having a discussion about having a wedding ceremony in Disney.  We didn’t have a very elaborate ceremony originally,and wouldn’t mind doing it over in Disney.

My wife saw a news story about a man that had put him, and his family up for bid on EBay.  He was giving his friendship for 24hours.  She brought having a wedding at Disney with the same pretense to my attention, and I told her to forget it, and noone would pay to go to someones wedding.  She begs to differ with me on this.

She has come up with this grand plan of $1000-$1500 bid to attend our wedding, and you will get a room for the week along with the wedding ceremony.

I am a realist, and don’t think that anyone would actually bid for this opportunity.

Would you pay to attend someones wedding?  What if it was at Disney with a room included?

Please… I ask all of you… Put my wifes mind to rest about this.  I need to hear all of your thoughts on this.  If all goes well, then maybe we will actually do this.  I personally think she is totally crazy.

Widgets & Blog Speed

I have been learning from various experimentations that even though you may like a widget that is added to WordPress, you need to decide wisely which widgets you actually use.

I just did a major site overhaul to reduce the amount of widgets that my sites were running.  After I cut out @ 10 widgets my site seems to be moving a lot faster than it previously did.

Some of the widgets that I found were slowing me were:

Wp-SpamFree, WP-Greet, WP-Stats, WassUp, Referrer Detector, Adman, Maintenance Mode, GD Star Ratings

If you don’t really need it, then deactivate it, and delete it.

WP-SpamFree actually seems to parallel Akismet, and WassUp doesn’t do much more than Blog Stats.  WP-Greet is not absolutelly necessary, & Referrer Detector is actually pointless if you are configured for Google.

What happens is that based on the amount of plugins your blog must call the server database a set amount of times.  The more times you call your database… The longer it takes to load.

Hopefully this helps everyone with gaining some speed in your blog.

Planning Your Disney Vacation

Many people have no idea where to start, or what they need when planning a trip to Disney.  I have successfully mastered this part.  I have been doing this for @15 years with my family, and I have also taken some of what I learned from my parents into this.

Here is a complete rundown from top to bottom on planning a complete Disney Vacation.

  • Start looking for flights, or rental cars months earlier than you are going.  (Most flight companies offer specials up to 3 months prior to flying.)
  • If driving to Disney, then contact AAA (if you are a member), and check on driving routes, etc.  If you aren’t a member, then think about getting AAA, as a breakdown on the road could be costly.
  • If you are driving with a camper, then start looking for a place to stop for the night if you are going to stop on your way. Read more »
