Holiday Decorating

I am the type of person that loves to decorate our house.  This year will be different.  Other than the Christmas tree in the living room, there will be no other decorations.

With money being tight, and work isn’t getting any better I can’t justify filling JCP&L’s pocketbook.  It seems that during high demand months they always jack up the rates just enough.

I am not very happy about not decorating, but I am sure some of you changed things this year.  How does everyone else feel about the holidays this year?

Disney’s Bedtime Stories

I was happy to hear my wife advise me that she had read how to obtain tickets to a sneak preview of Disney’s Bedtime Stories.  Once again my wife did a good job scouring the net.  Thanks for the info that was obtained at http://jerseyshore.momslikeme.com.

Prior to the movie I saw a trailer for what I am believing to be a follow-up to the very old Witch Mountain series.  The new movie is Race to Witch Mountain, starring The Rock.  Movie trailer doesn’t quite show the story line like I remember, but without seeing the movie I won’t be able to comment yet.  Here is a link to a friends blog with what information he has… http://www.mydisneyblog.com/my_weblog/2008/12/race-to-witch-mountain.html

Back to the real story…  Adam Sandler did a excellent job in this movie.  Without revealing any part to the movie I can really only say that the plot of the story was a simple one.  By the children adding onto their bedtime stories they led Skeeter on an adventure.  The CG (Computer Generated) graphics were quite realistic.  Buggy, the guinea pig, was quite funny to watch.

I recommend this move for all.  The movie was a nice way for our family to spend some time together.

A level of parental control

When I was a child most parents actually had control on their kids, and also supervised them a lot more.  Nowadays children are handed their cell phone, and told to be careful.  Parents really don’t have a level of concern, or caring anymore as far as I am concerned.

Tonight I witnessed this at the local movie theatre.  The kids behind my family were obnoxious, and out of control.  Between the kicking of the seats, and loud talking they really showed a low level of parental class.  When my child does something wrong I know that it directly reflects on how she was brought up.

I further noticed that they don’t care about what the parents buy for them.  My wife witnessed them trashing a cell phone that one of them had.  If my child ever comes home with a phone broken, she will have some “Splainin’ to do.”  (Not that she will have one anytime soon, as I stronly disagree with a cell phone becoming the babysitter.)

I noticed that most parents do genuinely care for their kids, but some of them seem to have kids more for the “trophy” aspect.

What is everyone elses take on this?  Have you seen what I am referring to?  Do you know people that have kids for the “trophy”?
